Just got an email from Electric Western mailing list (the guys who put on the Monday Nite Dance parties at the 5 Spot) about their East Side Prom this weekend. I’m uber pumped for it and highly suggest you check it out, especially if you haven’t been able to make it out on any Monday nites.

Electric Western Presents will be hosting our first annual EAST SIDE PROM this saturday night , June 20th, at The 5 Spot at 10pm.  In addition to your usual KEEP ON MOVIN DJs Reno Bo and Jacob Jones, we also have a very special treat lined up for this event: a 12 piece live soul band!  Thats right ladies and gentlemen, imagine your favorite soul classics  live and in your face, back up singers and full horn section and all!  If that weren’t enough, there is going to be a “special” punch bowl to get you dancin’ and a photographer will be on hand to capture all those classic prom moments for your memory lane photo albums. We’ll have giveaways courtesy of Lost Highway and Universal records.  We invite you to come out, put on your best gotti prom get up and re live your teen angst. except this time, drunk.  or at least drunker.  Seriously, we are really excited about this one.  get down.

Speaking of in-stores, you know about our event this Saturday with Andrew Bird, right? Well let me sweeten the deal considerably for ya. Andrew Bird has been booked for a show at The Ryman on October 10th. This has not even been announced yet so you’re reading that here first (word goes out to everyone else on June 23rd). AND tickets are not going on sale until June 26th. BUT we will have an EXCLUSIVE PRESALE of 100 tickets, some of the best seats in the house, here at the in-store this Saturday! That’s right, come see a free, exclusive Andrew Bird performance and grab your exclusive tickets to the October Ryman show before ANYONE ELSE gets a shot at them. I just got an email about my favorite week in Nashville: Next Big Nashville.

The email includes links to submit your band (or pass it along to your friends) and you can see all the info here. Take note that any artist can apply to play, not just Nashville bands. And the biggest note to remember: July 13th is the deadline for applying!

The fest is going to be this October 7-11 and is one of the best ways to check out new and established artists, plus the fact you can buy one wristband and get into any venue (granted you’re able to get in, age and space why).
